If this isn't it, it's pretty close. I haven't tried BCA but I have tried RLP-6 which I thought was the Captain Black White version? I really wasnt impressed with it this go-around. I love this stuff but for some reason only in my meerschaum pipes, it doesn't seem to taste the same in my briars. I will rate this higher as it does smell fantastic, its one of those its not you its me situations. I find this blend particularly delightful on a warm summer night. My local B&M recently added a new blend to their tobacco bar. If you have a favorit tobacconist, and he has a tobacco bar, chances are BCA is on it. Again, i wish i could describe to you the taste but again, it's just darn good stuff. this tobacco is a room pleaser with everyone enjoying the scent. I would never want to be without a supply of Lane's BCA. This is my criterion aromatic. Us By itself, its a rather dull affair, but as a mixer it shines and it has a magical cooling quality to it. I really like this one any time I want to satisfy my sweet tooth, even though it does give me dry mouth and throat when smoked straight. Always keep little extra on hand. I can puff away at this at night for hours and it just gets better. I can't do more than echo what everyone else has said. It seems like I've seen Lane 1-Q mentioned 1,000 times in threads here, and I almost never see people talk about Lane's BCA. It also works wonders in cooling and sweetening other blends that are harsh/bitter/hot. As I have mentioned in other reviews I have only been smoking a pipe for 2 weeks. I'm more of a premium natural and light aromatic smoker but I finally got around to trying this and it definitely has merit for an inexpensive black cavendish. Worried this was a PG-fest. Jar note of chocolate, brown sugar, and vanilla. Ok, that was an exaggeration, but even in my "hot" smoking pipes, all I get is a plesent warmth to my hand. I guess I got a good batch. The closest to BCA in the Captain Black line would be Captain Black Dark. I'm on the search for the tastiest Vanilla/Cavendish combo. Great for first time smokers. It will gunk up a pipe a little once in a while, and it can burn pretty damn hot if smoked too fast. They're usually made of Burley tobacco, the same stuff that's most commonly used in cigarettes, and that would certainly contribute to your aftertaste, though to some degree all tobaccos will leave you with a tobacco aftertaste.
